The event will also present the results of the Swiss PRO Programme in the area of gender equality, and certificates will be given to local self-governments for the successful implementation of 26 projects strengthening gender equality mechanisms and improving the situation of women in the local community.

The event will also be attended by the representatives of the Swiss Cooperation Office, relevant national and local institutions, also including the representatives of the said local self-governments.

Through project support in 26 towns and municipalities, local gender equality mechanisms were strengthened, and the direct benefit from the implementation of these projects was realised by over 5,000 men and women. With comprehensive Swiss PRO support, 31 municipalities so far have enhanced local gender equality policies, while in 27 local assemblies, the formation of informal network of women councillors was supported. With the aim of further capacity building, training was held for the representatives of the networks of women councillors, as well as training for women mayors on the topic of gender equality and leadership.
