Contact persons for Good Governance visited the National Academy of Public Administration

The Swiss PRO Programme organized a visit to the National Academy of Public Administration for the contact person for good governance from 46 local self-governments, which was held on December 14, 2021.

Representatives of 46 local self-governments, with the support of the Swiss Government through the Swiss PRO Programme, successfully completed training in the application of good governance principles and training of trainers, have visited NAPA to learn more about this important national institution and about opportunities for further professional development and the accreditation process for trainers.

“Good governance is a topic to which the National Academy pays special attention as it is the key factor in the public administration system without which the whole process of modernization would be meaningless. Training programmes participants are an important resource for advising on the principles of good governance and reliable capital of local governments to improve accountability and openness to citizens”, said Dejan Miletić, National Academy of Public Administration Acting Director during his introductory speech and emphasized the importance of continuous training of employees in public administration.

Detailed information on the possibilities for further development of trainer’s competencies within NAPA was presented by the Assistant Director, Snežana Antonijević, while the criteria and the complete accreditation process were presented by the Assistant Director, Dejan Raketić. Contact persons for good governance used the visit to ask a number of questions, and during the conversation with the representatives of NAPA, several potential topics were proposed for professional development of employees in local self-governments.

The two groups of trainees organized by the Swiss PRO Programme are an important resource for advising on the principles of good governance, and reliable capital of local self-governments to improve accountability and openness to citizens, said Ana Nedeljković Belja, National Manager of the Swiss PRO Programme.

"Our colleagues from local self-governments have shown great readiness for further professional development, which speaks in favour of the fact that this type of intervention, which involves investing in human resources, is the key to reform processes and changes in working methods and practices in local administration” said Nedeljković Belja.

Following the visit to NAPA, the Swiss PRO Programme organized an event where certificates were awarded for successfully completing good governance training and attending training for trainers.
